The Center For Disease Control recently released a report that 1 out of every 110 children will be diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). One of every 70 boys will be stricken with the disorder, which has no known cause and no cure. Receiving the diagnosis often throws families into shock, looking for answers and help.

Families of children diagnosed with an ASD often lack a source to find current information and available resources.  Additionally, parents feel isolated and need the support of other families also struggling with the difficult decisions of what treatments are effective for autism.  Once families have made a treatment decision, many are unable to provide financially for their child's educational costs and are forced into untested programs.  The Autism Resource Foundation helps families through the process of evaluating educational options, serving as a family support network, as well as offering assistance with the financial needs associated with the crisis of receiving a diagnosis of an ASD.

The mission of The Autism Resource Foundation, located in Huntsville, Alabama, is to provide a source for information, training, financial assistance and education for families in their battle to defeat autism.  We strive to provide assistance in all of the different areas used to confront and treat the disorder.  This is accomplished through sharing experiences and other information, fundraising events and helping to provide for the initial and continuing education of individuals who administer the different therapies that treat the disorder.  The Autism Resource Foundation will provide a spectrum of resources in support of the war on autism.

• Keller Williams - a very special shout out to Keller Williams! With a generous donation from RedBASH 2009 , The Autism Resource Foundation is able to fund therapy and medical costs (which, by the way, are not covered by most insurance) for families with children on the autism spectrum allowing these children to have the opportunities they need to reach their potential; to provide support and guidance to family members to get them through stressful times; and to assist in the payment of advocates for the families, should that need arise.




• Technology Assistance for Special Consumers - a grant to purchase Boardmaker for use in The Autism Resource & Knowledge Center is invaluable to the families who use PECS (a Picture Exchange Communication System) to help and aid in communication with their children.




• Huntsville Hospital Community Health Initiative - awarded with the 2010-2011 Huntsville Hospital Community Health Initiative Grant, The Autism Resource Foundation is able to continue hosting a facility where families can obtain free referrals for services, free resources and parent mentors - The Autism Resource & Knowledge Center.
